Long Fibre (LF) reinforced plastics

The granulates in long-fiber plastics are approximately 10 mm long, which is also the length of the fiber. Long fibers are used in most engineering plastics, usually with PP and PA.

Why choose?

  • Significantly improved impact resistance; retains in sub-zero temperatures.
  • Excellent creep resistance
Why not choose?
  • If you want improvement in modulus only, the positive effect of long fibers is rather small.
  • Changing from normal length fibers to long fibers has its complications due to the runner system requirements.

Typical applications:

  • Car parts
