Silicone

Silicone is not a material that is suitable for injection molding, although the molding process is similar. It is also possible to combine silicone with thermoplastics (usually PA).

Why choose it?

  • Compared to thermoplastics, it has superior thermal and chemical resistance
  • Can be used to produce products that require high transparency: silicone streetlight lenses are a great example

Why not choose it?

  • Can not be injection molded

Typical applications:

  • Oven mittens
  • Teething toys
  • Kitchen utensils
  • Medical devices (easy to sterilize)
